You'd Think I'd Know This By Now...

Mon Apr 20, 2009, 7:42 PM
Hay guise! I need your help! D:

My friends who's doing Edgar's voice for my animation is asking me what he would sound like. Okay... that's a pretty reasonable question. I told him I needed to think about it.

For some reason, I have a pretty good idea of how Reynard would sound like, but, strangely enough, I have no clue of how Edgar would sound. :/ The only thing I can come up with is that his voice would be deeper than Reynard's (which is relatively high-pitched for a male voice).
Soo.... I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how they imaged Edgar's voice sounding?

HOLY CRAP! I like this guy that randomly came up on Pandora so far. His name is William Elliott Whitemore. I have never heard of him before, but this song is cool!

Anyway, so if anyone could tell me that, because hell... I ain't got nothin' (which... is rather... sad...)

Except replies to everything to be slow-coming and laaaaateeee... because I'm still swamped.

HMM this really is touch, and I'm usually good at figuring out a character's voice. . .Edgar you are a toughie. Aaaah, the best voice I could come up with is Topher Grace's, aka Eric Foreman from That 70's Show. (Shutup I love that show. :c) Just something like that. . .Not too deep, a bit listless and always with that hint of sarcasm in his tone. And for some reason Charlie Sheen also came to mind, ah hah, wut. YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO LISTEN TO ME really.

ALSO, on a more random note, how is Silent Hill 5, mannn. *HOPE*

I'd say slightly laconic, average-male. Not too high, I imagine he sounds more like a chow than his brother, who is totally coyote-high. Perhaps a bit of hoarseness, a little bit like a smoker's voice. Or perhaps someone who just screams too much at someone.
It's difficult to put sound into words...

Smoker voice. Something deep and penetrating maybe. He needs to sound sarcastic too. I just picture him being very sarcastic in everything he says and does.

If a tree falls in a forest, does anybody hear? Yes. Chuck Noris hears, he hears everything . . .

I'd say as a whole completely detached and uncaring. Not as much apathy as much as it is he's just bored. I'd say Bukowski, but it's not as "scum of the earth, working class bum." Maybe a little less hateful than it's a little despondent? I can't think of a good example though

Of all the mistakes you have made, the best are yet to come.

You hate me.

You curse me the moment you see my hand reach for that intersection button.

I make you crash.

I make you swerve.

I am the almighty pedestrian, and you will yeild for me.

A bit more resentful than Carlin, I think. I mean, the laid-back is there, but I think you still want to hear more of the personal bite behind it than you usually get with Carlin. Then again, I'm not sure Edgar has the personality for comedy...

Have you tried just describing Edgar's character and letting the guy doing his voice give it a shot?

Smile and nod.

I have always sort of thought that it would be gravelly and almost whiny.
